This painting captures the canyon on a misty June morning when the mountains are shrouded in cloud. Beautiful and mysterious.
One of the delights of spending so much time in Big Santa Anita Canyon is experiencing its many moods. And I have painted the same view, like this one, repeatedly – it is never the same. I especially like this view looking up the canyon wall towards Pine Slide and seeing rock and trees against the sky. To those familiar with the canyon, this view is looking up towards the west when down below First Water, near Cabin 5.
