Description
This work was completed during a 2016 Artist-In-Residence with the Angeles National Forest. I spent a week painting in and around Little Jimmy Trail Camp, located in the eastern part of the San Gabriel Mountains at about 7,500′ elevation. Each day I chose an area around the camp and made several paintings through the day.
I completed this painting on a clear bright day as I perched on the ridge leading to Mt. Islip. The pine was silhouetted against an intensely blue sky, with the clarity of the color accentuated by the high elevation.
10×8 oil cut edge canvas panel, May 2016
This work is sold framed in a natural wood float frame, wired for hanging (11.5″ x 9.5″ x 1.25″). The interior of the frame is painted a flat black, which sets off the colors of the painting. The painting panel is mounted on a wood cradle to mount within the frame.
