Description
This work was completed during a 2016 Artist-In-Residence with the Angeles National Forest. I spent a week painting in and around Little Jimmy Trail Camp, located in the eastern part of the San Gabriel Mountains at about 7,500′ elevation. I spent more than one day painting atop Mount Islip, a short walk up from the camp and with a 360-degree view at about 8250′. I chose my view depending on the time of day.
Here I look south across the range that bounds Crystal Lake below. I was intrigued by the sinuous curve of the mountain road that traces the ridgeline.
5×7 oil on gessoed wood board, floated on canvas panel, May 2016
This work is sold framed. The painting is floated on a sealed 8×10 canvas board and framed in a walnut finish wood gallery frame (11.25″ x 9.25″ x 1.375″). It is wired for hanging or can sit on a small stand.
