Description
Arcadia Wilderness Park sits at the bottom of Big Santa Anita Canyon, where it meets the city. This work is a gestural take on the canyon wall where it is opening up, with the mature trees of the park in the foreground. Pieces of color were applied with a palette knife, which gives the painting a lot of life and texture. It has the energy of a windy March day.
12×9 oil on gessoed wood panel, March 2016
The wood panel is 1/4″ plywood salvaged from a cabin in the canyon, cut to size and treated with several coats gesso.
